The Havelock News, established in 1986, is a weekly paper in Havelock, North Carolina, where Slocum Creek and Hancock Cree flow into the Neuse River along the southeastern coast of North Carolina. The publication is the recipient of numerous awards from the North Carolina Press Association, including five straight years in which it received first place in general excellence as the top paper in its circulation division. In 2011, the Havelock News received 30 awards from the North Carolina Press Association, the most awards received by any paper in its circulation size.
